"We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community. . . Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.”

  • DATES: October 3, 2007; October 17, 2007; October 31, 2007; November 14, 2007
  • WHEN: 2:45 - 3:45, every other Wednesday
  • WHERE: Jack Yates High School Cafeteria

  • ABOUT PROGRAM: We will EMPOWER, EDUCATE, TUTOR, MENTOR, & INSPIRE 100 Latino students at Jack Yates High School. Together, we can instill some amazing values into these malleable teens who may lack direction, guidance, motivation, and role models. If we combine our strengths and harness the student’s enthusiasm, we can mold them into contributing members of society and assets to our country. Our goal is to ensure that these students do not fall through the cracks and to ensure that they attend college.

  • TO BE A MENTOR: Please email LULACLawStudents@yahoo.com with your name, phone, email, year and feel free to tell us in what other capacities you could assist us. We need TMSL role models to help us as we have the ability to instill hope and leadership skills in the next generation.

In addition, the Jack Yates students from our program last year and their teachers organized and have invited us to attend a Latino Heritage Month Celebration on Monday October 1, 2007 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Yates Cafeteria. They will have student presentations, salsa lessons, tres leches cake, and more!
